“I gained 4,000 new email subscribers in 5 months 🙌”
Katie Bull is a no-nonsense registered nurse (as most are) with a refreshing approach to the field: fighting the perpetual cycle of burnout and finding your dream remote nurse position that fits your dynamic lifestyle. She has an unmistakable entrepreneurial spirit, and has found herself in the natural role as a career coach after spending 10+ years reading resumes as a hiring manager. She initially reached out to us in December 2023 in need of some brand photos as her coaching business was growing, and as we chatted more about her brand, we also found that she could use an upgraded website to put those photos to use, and a targeted digital strategy to attract more clients + help more nurses who desperately needed her services. Her passion for the field and helping nurses make these wonderfully life-changing career moves immediately had us hooked, and the results have been pretty incredible.
From Katie’s lips / fingertips:
“I reached out to Natalie about 6 months into starting my coaching business. I was growing rapidly despite a bootstrapped approach to just about everything including a very rough website and headshots cropped from ten year old family photos. My intention was to arrange professional headshots;
what I received was so much more.
It's a combination of knowing my worth and putting up those boundaries and then also knowing my own limits. I don't have to say yes to everybody; this is my business and I don't have to be available all the time. I think I'll have it with that confidence which was like a bonus, I never even considered when I first wanted to work with you. It's like I wanted the pictures because I wanted to look the part but the bonus was you made me feel the part.

Featured Element // Website Design + Product Suite Setup:
Problem: Katie was starting to attract MANY nurses in need of her services + resources through her presence on TikTok (an incredible problem to have as a new business owner). She needed a home base that was equipped to automate responses and streamline her systems, while also serving as a place that could grow trust + authority with her audience. She mentioned having lots of “lurkers” hanging out on her old websites (she was splitting tasks across two different website platforms), so we wanted to create a place where website visitors would actually feel comfortable converting into purchasers. While Stan Store and Kajabi served their purpose when she was first getting started, she needed something with a little more depth + polish.
before:
Solution: New Website (web design, digital product + services suite setup, copy, email marketing + automations setup). Katie’s new website serves as a safe place for her community of burned out nurses seeking better career options to find resources and a coach that is truly invested in helping them build a more balanced and fruitful life. It is infused with her brand values, and communicates how and why Katie is the girl for the job. Her digital resources are easy to access and clients can seamlessly book with her - all in one place.

Featured Element // Email Marketing
Problem: Katie’s email list was growing - RAPIDLY. Again, a wonderful problem to have when you’re in the beginning stages of scaling your business. She was sitting on a pot of gold - all of these nurses who had resonated with what she had to say on social media, ready to take the next steps in their careers. But she lacked a strategic email marketing funnel to harness her community and convert them into customers // clients.
Solution: Through some trial and error, we found the correct email marketing platform for Katie’s particular business model and formed a strategy to walk her subscribers through several different funnels, with the ultimate goal of making them purchasers. We did this by narrowing in her audiences’ pain points, highlighting her expertise as a hiring manager, and infusing her brand story within every email. We set automations so that this system would run itself - all while she continues to service her clients (and work her day job).
Featured Element // Portrait Photography
Problem: Katie’s initial need when she first came to us was photography. She wanted professional photos of herself to showcase her warmth as well as her authority, and to position herself as a trusted coach within her industry.
Solution: Natalie + Nina tag-teamed a strategic photoshoot, as well as provided b-roll footage from her session to use for social media // content creation purposes. She has been able to put her photos to work on her website, social channels, and email marketing, which now tell a cohesive + beautiful story that emotionally connects her directly to her audience.
Here are some highlights:
Featured Element // Business Name
Problem: The name Katie was using was working across her social platforms, but we ran into some trademark issues when it came to using it as an actual business name // DBA. We wanted to easily communicate her brand as a resource for burned out nurses seeking better employment options - someone that would help advocate for them. Someone who was still optimistic about their futures within the field of nursing.
old name & logo:
Solution: THE BULLISH NURSE came to be by playing around with verbiage that included Katie’s last name, Bull. One definition of “bullish” is confident or optimistic.
Bingo.

Featured Element // About Page copy
Problem: Katie’s old websites had virtually no space for an “about” section long enough for her visitors to build a strong connection with her. She had a great start for her bio, but we wanted to dig deeper and make it more visually interesting on her new website.
About page copy before:
Solution: Natalie’s brand identity session with Katie resulted not only in a Brand Values document, but also revealed The Bullish Nurse’s true brand story, with Katie’s personal connection to the work she creates at its core.
About page copy after:
I was working as a bedside nurse, my son was 3 months old, and very sick. My husband was on active duty assignment, and I couldn’t find a single nurse to cover my shift. Having run out of options, I timed my son’s Tylenol dosages throughout the night to ensure he’d have a dose right before daycare opened - maximizing the time his fever would be low enough that he could stay. As I looked into his little pale face, guilt washed over me. I was panic-stricken, feeling trapped. It was clear to me that traditional nursing was no longer working for me or my family, but I had invested so much time, money and energy to obtain my degree and get this job.
I felt stuck.
Shortly after that day, I took a significant pay cut as a nursing clinical instructor, staying in education for years, prioritizing ‘normal’ hours that worked for day care and deployments.
By a stroke of luck, a dear friend convinced me to apply at a medical device company for a role I had never heard of. Despite feeling under-qualified and overwhelmed with the job description, much to my surprise, I was offered the position.
I pushed past the self-doubt, the feelings of imposter syndrome, the guilt of leaving my work-family behind, and mostly but subtly, this nagging feeling that leaving bedside meant leaving a part of my identity as a ‘nurse’ behind.
I could not have imagined what I was about to discover:
I was absolutely blown away at the flexibility, autonomy, supportive cultures, compensation and benefits, but most of all by the fact that
there is a vast world of opportunities that exist for nurses!
Nurses working in functions like Risk / Quality, Safety, Sales, Subject Matter Experts, Research - you name it!
How had I never heard of these roles before? Not in nursing school, and certainly not in hospitals.
My role eventually evolved to become a hiring manager. Much to my surprise, as positions opened, nurse applicants were rare. I knew nurses had the expertise, skills, and qualifications for these roles… I worked with hundreds of them over the years. And I knew so many would jump at the opportunity to leave bedside nursing.
How could we have trouble filling these positions?!
Then it hit me… so many companies need nursing talent and expertise. And though nurses are desperate to leave the bedside, they are not aware of the many different (and amazing) options for nurses.
WE’VE BEEN TOLD:
All remote nursing jobs pay too little money.
Even if good remote jobs do exist - they’re not for “us”.
If we leave, the pay cut will ruin our family’s quality of life.
And perhaps most elusive, this nagging feeling that you might lose a piece of who you are.
Who are you if you’re not a ‘real nurse’ at the bedside?
I am here today to tell you today with absolute certainty -
this simply is not true.
better jobs do exist for you.
you have options, friends. good ones.
better than you can even imagine.
My mission is to help educate, support, and guide other nurses who are seeking non-traditional roles while using the hard-earned credentials and expertise they already have. Hospitals do not own the nursing profession. With my experience as a hiring manager and with a deep expertise in education, I have helped thousands of nurses in their pursuit of finding joyful employment in working in remote and/or non-traditional roles as nurses, and I’m here to help you too. None of us should have to choose between our careers, family, and our health.
There is fulfillment, happiness, impact, and compensation, all waiting for you.
I can help you nurse differently.
