CHECK OUT OUR BRAND SESSIONS
What’s included in a brand photography session?
The biggest difference is that brand session tell more of a story and provide a depth of context to your audience. It’s easier for your audience to CONNECT and feel like they know you when they’ve seen many different sides of your personality as well as more “real life” scenarios (or at least those that appear to be!). Since brand sessions allow you to incorporate different looks, locations, and props, you’ll be able to express the bigger picture around the products you sell or the services you offer. Our brand sessions deliver 60+ images, depending on your shoot, while individual headshot session only deliver a few.
If you’re looking to create a cohesive multi-dimensional experience that allows your audience insight into the many facets of your brand, then a Brand Photography Session is for you. If you’re looking to have a few great images of you to use as profile images and avatars on your business website or social media channels, then our Headshot Sessions are probably the right fit (just stay on this page)!

“I knew I wanted my headshot to uniquely represent me personally and professionally. As for the rest – what to wear, how to pose, whether to smile – I hadn’t the faintest clue. Natalie and the team had me covered from beginning to end, and the results far exceeded expectations. ”

Headshot Photography FAQs
-
We’ve got you. Almost every single person we’ve ever photographed has told us that they are “un-photogenic”. We don’t believe in that. With professional lighting, creative composition, and guided posing prompts, we will take the best photos of you you’ve ever seen. The entire session is directed, and your photographer will be talking to you, fixing misplaced hair or wardrobe, and creating a comfortable environment for the entire duration of the shoot. We’ll be showing you photos on the back of the camera (that will have you saying “wow - is this me!?) so you can feel confident we are getting the images you want, and so you can help us fix anything we may have missed. We promise the hardest part is showing up - we will handle everything from there!!!
-
This is our most asked question! So frequent in fact, that we created an entire guide to help answer it. The short answer is - wear clothing you feel good in, that is fairly form fitting, and achieves the "look" you are going for (ex. professional, casual, stylish, etc.). Yes to wearing color! If you still have questions after reading through our style guide - feel free to reach out to our studio! We're happy to help. We also offer virtual or in-person closet visits to help you decide which items to bring, and which items may need to go shopping for.
-
Our standard turnaround time is one week for your proofing gallery, and another week for your final retouched images. We are occasionally able to accommodate rushes with notice :)
-
Usually, yes! We find most of clients are busy professionals (many of whom would rather visit the dentist for a root canal before stepping in front of a camera!), and this usually results in some last minute scheduling. We are always happy to accommodate deadlines whenever we are able - reach out to our studio manager if you do not see any shoot availability that meets your needs.
-
Yes. Any delivered image will be fully polished for you - including skin smoothing, stray hair removal, softening of facial lines, whitening of teeth and background distraction removal as needed. We will perfect your images, without overly editing your unique traits that make you a human :)
-
Basically whatever you normally do! This is not the time to try a new hairstyle or get your haircut (no impulse colors, bangs or layers!). We want you to look like you. If you know how you want it done but are looking for a bit of extra polish, curl or straightening - you can add on services from Special Occasion Hair & Makeup directly through our studio manager, and she will meet you at our studio!
-
We have a dedicated styling station in our space for Special Occasion Hair & Makeup. Chrissy’s services can be booked directly through our studio manager, $100 for makeup only, $150 for hair and makeup and will take place directly before your shoot at our studio location.
-
Depends on your goals! We find most of our Traditional Headshot clients have all of their needs met at our studio, but if you have a specific location in mind such as your place of work, or somewhere in Rochester - we are happy to shoot on-site! The Basic session includes studio only, but Deluxe offers off-site locations for a nominal fee. You can check out examples of all of our favorite locations (including our studio) here.
-
Our studio is designed with you in mind. We have a hair and makeup area where our stylist works (available as an add-on to your session), your own private dressing room with supplies for last minute touch ups, bathroom, refreshments, and our spacious natural light studio shooting space. We have beautiful chairs and stools, solid colored backdrops, and lots of plants.
-
Life happens, we get it! We are able to accommodate one reschedule per session booked, with 24 hours notice. Additional reschedules may be subject to a nominal fee.
-
Absolutely. Our Corporate & Teams service lines include on-site or studio photo and video services for companies who need multiple staff members photographed on identical or similar backdrops. We offer invoicing, and online scheduling, as well as group rates for these services. Pop over to our Corporate page, or inquire for details!

Our studio is nestled in the historic East Ave district, on Prince Street between East and University Avenues. We're half a block from the Memorial Art Gallery, and the Strathallan Hotel. We have many Visitor parking spots in the lot right next to the front door of our building, and a very large overflow lot behind it. No need to parallel park (thank goodness).
-
Sort of, not really :) You can bring up to 3 extra outfits for us to review at the beginning of your session, in case you are unsure of what to bring! You're also welcome to send us photos in advance so we can weigh in before you weigh down your car.
-
You can definitely bring jewelry with you - but only if you are used to wearing it. Don't feel like you need to buy something for your session, or wear a piece you would never wear in real life.
-
If you'd like to - absolutely. You can do them yourself, or go to your favorite salon. Hands frequently do appear in our photos. We recommend whatever color (or no color) you normally wear - you’ll probably use these images for a little while and you won’t want the photos to feel dated or out of character.
-
Unfortunately, we do not have weekend availability for our headshot sessions.
-
Yes! All of our session include a wide range of poses to choose from. Most people prefer shoulders up and 3/4 body, so let us know if you definitely need a full body shot (realtors, we're looking at you!) so we can make sure to give you many to choose from!
-
Your proofing gallery will be ready for you approximately one week after your session. These images will be cut down to only the best, and will not yet be fully retouched. You will make your image selections through our shopping cart feature for any images included in your session, and any extras you may wish to purchase!
-
You will receive a link to a gallery from which you can download your final images approximately 5 days after you've placed your order. Occasionally these emails go to spam, so please check there if you have not received them within the 5 day timeframe!
-
This happens all the time! Additional images can be purchased directly though your proofing gallery for $50 per image.
-
We usually book 1-3 weeks in advance, but are occasionally able to accommodate same-week sessions! Always feel free to reach out if our online availability does not work for you, sometimes we're able to squeeze you in.
